{Morning Thoughts}

{Morning Thoughts} A combination flood of excitement, exhilaration, accomplishment, satisfaction, joy (and exhaustion) continue to surge through my body as Black Maternal Health Week 2019 #BMHW19 officially begins. In an amazing display of organizational brilliance the Black Mamas Matter Alliance has focused, gathered, prepared, supported, advocated, championed and centered Black women and their supporters by committing to maternal health, rights and justice, and in just a few short years. Those of you who know me, that know the fight, know that this so totally lifts up the work and the message, that many of us have been speaking about for so many years. This powerful Alliance is impacting and transforming lives, agencies and organizations, informing medical discourse and practices, forging political allies and changing policy. I am honored to be a Kindred Partner of BMMA as we step up and march on. I am inspired. I have hope!

Today I launch a new site, the Commonsense Childbirth Institute – www.savinglives.biz – as we are literally in the business of saving lives, and by sharing the training and support programs we offer I hope to contribute to re-building the workforce and the pipeline that will serve and support our communities. Our vision is simply this – ‘Every perinatal provider feels supported, empowered and valued while providing safe, unbiased and equitable care for every person, every time’.

Our goal is the elimination of racial disparities in birth outcomes in the USA.
