Certified Childbirth Consultant (CCC)

This newer program is designed for those who desire to work towards becoming a midwife or desire to work professionally with women throughout the childbearing year. Those who choose to finish this ‘Mini-Series’ will be designated as a Certified Childbirth Consultant (CCC) having been educated in our three perinatal courses, Doula, Childbirth Educator & Lactation Educator. These classes are now considered prerequisites for our midwifery programs and in most cases, are transferable to other midwifery schools.

The Childbirth Consultant is a new concept in perinatal education and we at CCI are excited to offer you this pathway to empowering women to birth and parent with confidence and power. We believe this is an important step to becoming a midwife, however for some students this arena is where they may build and maintain their private childbirth practice. We believe that every woman should have access to a maternity care provider or educator of their choice and to the information needed to make informed decisions. Our goal is to develop competent, highly educated childbirth professionals and midwives who can provide this option – The JJ Way®.

Certified Community Health Worker – Maternal Child Health (CCHW)

Position yourself to be a certified health care provider who can make a distinct and tangible impact on pregnant, postpartum and parenting women, particularly among those most at risk in today’s health care arena. The Certified Community Health Worker (CCHW) is an ideal training for existing nursing assistants, medical assistants, doulas, childbirth or lactation educators, or home visitors with a passion for transforming our current maternity care system.

Our training provides a combination of perinatal skills and competencies which allows for the health worker to be able to work independently in the field, or as part of an organization or agency. Graduates will be prepared to provide life-saving education and  support to childbearing women, as well as to play a significant role as part of the maternal health care professional team. As ‘perinatal practitioner extenders’ with a firm foundation in maternal child health (MCH), our CCHW’s are trained to work in a variety of settings including private practices, birth centers, hospitals, clinics, community settings and homes, building and modeling strong collaborations to establish perinatal networks. They cover all aspects of the childbearing cycle – pregnancy, birth and postpartum, and girls and women’s health. They are able to teach across the life-course with culturally-congruent and evidence-based information, including demonstrating and modeling health practices and creating liaisons and trusting relationships with other health providers and agencies.

This certification may lead to employment in Maternal Child Health, or in being eligible to bill independently for services under the CPT and HCPCS coding system for perinatal healthcare services. The minimum 8-week course consists of independent learning via our online platform and live webinars.
